A Day at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa
The Museum of New ZealandĀ Te Papa
The day is rainy and cold so we decide to go to the Papa Museum in Wellington.
This museum is not to be missed. It is fabulous and it is free with only an extra charge for certain temporary exhibits. There are six floors and over 36,000 sq metres of space.
I loved the New Zealand Cultural area with its history of its people.
The exhibit about the experiences of the New Zealand soldiers in Gallipoli in the first world war is excellent and very moving.
I also learned so much about New Zealand’s animals and the work to save endangered species. My favourite was what they are doing to save the Kakapo parrot. Click here for an incredibly well done and amusing video. (Worth taking a look)
They also had very good exhibits on climate change.
The whole museum is fabulous. We stay until almost closing time.
Wellington Waterfront
By the time we leave the rain had stopped so we walk around the waterfront and Lambton Quay before heading back to our Airbnb.
