Christchurch to WellingtonKaikouraThe alarm goes at 6:00am and we are on the road by 7:10am to travel from Christchurch to Picton and then by ferry to Wellington. So far it is a cool, overcast day.The departure on Interislander Ferry is at 2:15pm but we must be checked in at the marshalling yard by 1:15pm. Christchurch Day 2International Antarctic Centre  After a leisurely breakfast we drive to the  International Antarctic Centre. The reason why this centre is in Christchurch is because Christchurch is considered the gateway city for the research stations in Antarctic. It’s from Christchurch that planes transport researchers and their equipment to McMurdo Sound or other locations on the frozen continent.The Centre is interactive and really well done.
