Checking out Nathon and Secluded Beaches

In the Town

A Local Wat

Wat Kiri WongkaramWe have a leisurely morning at the villa. We head over to a local family owned restaurant for breakfast.

The villa is in a small town. Down the street is a lovely temple. The monks are very friendly.

John walking to breakfastWhile walking to and from the restaurant, we pass horses and egrets grazing in an area filled with palm trees. Chickens and roosters are all over the place. There is an abundance of lush vegetation and bright flowers.

Weather changes quickly here; one second bright sunshine, the Grazing horses and egretsnext second a tropical rain shower.

We spend the morning after breakfast on our covered deck watching both the sun and enjoying the calmness of the sound of the rain showers.

Local boats with a cruise ship in the backgroundWe finally manage to move ourselves to drive to the nearby town of Nathon (about a thirty minute drive). Nathon is a cruise ship stop. Two ships are in port.

We go to the grocery store to get supplies. I love checking out grocery stores in other countries.

There are a number of cannabis shops. It must be legal here.

We walk the waterfront and then have a leisurely lunch at a waterfront restaurant, watching the ships and people on the beach.

John has come down with a cold and is not feeling his best. He is happy to have his iPad back which was waiting for him at the airport hotel in Manila.

Paddle Boarding

Our paddle boards at the private beach
John paddle boarding in SamuiBack at our Airbnb we get ready to head down to the beach. There is a dog rescue down the street and we see about a dozen people walking dogs down to the beach.

We rent paddle boards and paddle to a secluded beach. After heading back we make our way to the Island View Restaurant for a sunset supper.

Kayaks at a secluded beachNext day we have another lazy morning, eating some of yesterday’s food purchases for breakfast. Just as we change for the beach, a huge thunderstorm blows in. We sit on our deck and watch. It blows itself out in a half hour and the skies clear. Click here for a short video.

Kimberly at the Island View Restaurant SignAfter the storm we use the kayaks supplied by the Airbnb and paddle along the picturesque coastline. It is mostly jungle and beach. We stop at a secluded beach that we have to ourselves for a swim before heading back.

We have our final supper at Island View Restaurant.
