Feathers, Plants, Museum and Night Market
KL Bird Park
After spending some time in the morning dealing with online business (a necessary evil) and packing for our evening flight, we grab a taxi and head the the KL Bird Park.
This park is the largest free flying walk-in bird park in the world. We are not on a strict time restraint so we take our time and enjoy all the exhibits. Here is a short video at the stork pond.
Of course we can’t miss the parrot show. Click here for a short video.
Perdena Botanical Gardens
Across the street from the Bird Park is the Perdena Botanical Gardens. It covers a huge area and we only have the time and energy to walk some of it. The first area is the orchid gardens. We get a great view of the Merdeka 118 Tower which is the second tallest building in the world after the Burj Kalif in Dubai.
The mid-day heat is sapping my strength and I just want to get into air conditioning.
National Museum of Malaysia
We walk to the nearby National Museum of Malaysia where I am embarrassed to say, that I am more interested in the air conditioning than the exhibits. It is a good museum with prehistoric exhibits all the way to modern day.
Goodbye to the Night Market
We head back to our hotel and go to the Jalan Alor Street Night Market again for our final meal in Malaysia. John orders a huge beer with his meal and me a huge coconut. I am amazed that even though most restaurants have a menu of more than twelve or fifteen pages, you order and still receive your food in under five minutes. Unbelievable. I think I will miss this night market and all its delicious foods most of all.
We really enjoyed Kuala Lumpur. I was expecting a let down from Singapore but the city is clean and safe with lots to do for a stay of 2-3 days. We found that KL had a great vibe and would definitely recommend stopping here if you are in the area.
