Last Day of the Whole Trip
Toaroto Beach
Roosters are up again at 5:30am. After breakfast and a bit of packing, John and I head to Toaroto Beach for our last bit of snorkeling. I watch a small starfish make his way across the coral.
It is hard to say goodbye to the water but we go back to our place to hang our wet towels and bathing suits, take showers and grab a bite to eat.
Museum of Tahiti and the Islands
Our next stop is the Museum of Tahiti and the Islands. It is a small but really interesting museum…and it is air conditioned. Worth the visit.
We walk around the museum grounds. There is a great view of Moorea in the distance and they also have one of Captain Cook’s anchors on display.
Arahurahu Marae Archeological Site
Our next stop is Arahurahu Marae Archeological Site. This is the most complete site in French Polynesia. It is so peaceful.
The sun is shining and it starts to rain. Unfortunately no rainbow but the rain still feels good on my skin.
Final Tahitian Sunset
We head back to our Airbnb to finish packing and play some cards by the pool. Too soon it is time to go. We say goodbye to our host and his children.
On the way to the airport we stop at Vaiava Beach to watch one last Tahitian sunset. Unfortunately the clouds blew in so it isn’t the best sunset but it’s still beautiful.
Flights Home
Dropping off the rental car is quick and easy. We also go through check-in and security, quickly and efficiently.
Of course I have to have a picture taken with the wings.
The airport is not air conditioned. We stay in our shorts and t-shirts as long as possible before changing. It is hot, hot, hot. When I finally go to change I can barely get my jeans on because I am sweating so much.
We board our 9:40pm United Airlines flight to San Francisco. They must be preparing us for the cold in Canada because the air conditioning is cranked way up.
We both wanted aisle seats so John is directly behind me. My row of three seats is full but John is the only one in his row of three seats. The cabin steward asks us if we would like to be seated together in John’s row … John immediately replies “No” to much laughter from nearby passengers.
Apparently the prospect of being able to lie down and sleep in his own row is more appealing than having me sit with him for the next 8 hours!
The flight goes quickly (I sleep). We land at San Francisco International Airport and we move quickly through baggage pick up and security. We now await our final flight from San Francisco to Toronto.
The flight to Toronto was uneventful however it took forever to get our luggage at Pearson International Airport. We are now home
Great trip!
