Lazy Day in Bora Bora
Morning at Lady Bora Bora and Viatape
We wake up and have breakfast on our deck. Then just relax.
We decide to check out the island’s main town, Vaitape. It is only a ten minute bike ride away. John insists on buying pareos in town. I think he may have had a fashion epiphany at the pareo wrapping demonstration yesterday.
Saturday at Matira Beach
At 3:30pm Desiree drives us to Matira Beach (it’s an 8 minute drive). We rent a paddle board but the board only has the main fin and no ankle strap. The water is a bit choppy so we mostly take turns paddling around sitting down and checking out the odd stingray that swims past. John has a swim while I read on the beach.
Bora Bora Beach Club
For sunset we splurge and go to the Bora Bora Beach Club on Matira Beach for dinner and drinks. Dinner is awesome, I have a tuna Fricassee in a vanilla sauce. Sounds odd but it is divine. It also has sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms and basil. John has a Mahi Mahi burger.
John orders a really tasty Mojito and I have a strawberry Prosecco (Prosecco, strawberry and sugar cane). Delicious.
Just before sunset, a big mountain like cloud comes up like a mirror image of the island of Bora Bora. And just as quickly, it disappears.
Tahitian Dance Show at Intercontinental Le Moana Bora Bora
Next we walk to the nearby Intercontinental Le Moana Bora Bora Resort with its overwater bungalows. We wander around the resort and sneak a watch of the cutural dance show which you normally have to make dinner reservations to see.
Cabs here are ridiculously expensive. The 8 minute drive (5.5 km) from the hotel back to our accommodation costs $48 CAD. We didn’t realize that after 7pm cabs double their rates.
It was still worth it for our special night out.
