Snorkelling

John on the beach in front of the snorkel boat

John and Kimberly on the Snorkel boatWe have the option of breakfast in the restaurant or on the porch of our cottage… we opt for the porch. Breakfast arrives at 7am as requested and then at 7:30am we are picked up by a shuttle that takes us to the ferry port for our day tour to the island of Nusa Penida. It’s organized chaos at the port and we are herded to the correct ferry for the 45 minute crossing to Nusa Penida.

Looking from the boat into a beach surrounded by lush hillsFrom the port in Nusa Penida we head to a small boat that takes us out for snorkeling.

The snorkeling is great. We stop at four different locations. Although we didn’t see any manta rays, I did see Picasso Triggerfish, parrotfish, angel fish , wrasses and lots of others that I didn’t recognize. It was awesome.

Island Tour

Kim and John looking down on Kelingking BeachAfter the snorkeling, we change and are taken by van for a tour of the island. The roads are very narrow and sometime there are big drops on the sides. And these roads are used for both directions. There are also a lot of holes in the roads. Click here for a video.

We stop first for lunch then for some beautiful views of Klingklang Beach then Broken Beach. It is so very very hot. I am exhausted and dripping with sweat. Then we have a very long hour drive over bumpy roads back to the ferry.

When we are back in our cottage the air conditioning never felt so good.

Last Evening in Bali

I book appointments for our final massages at Peni Wendi. It is sheer bliss. I feel sad as we leave. Maybe I should enroll John in massage classes for his special birthday gift this year.

We have our last Bali supper at Warung Baby Monkeys. The restaurant has a really cool vibe and the food is good.

Now back to the hotel to pack for tomorrow’s flights to New Zeala
