Senur Beach, Bali
Balinese Offerings and Temples.
I am very sad to leave Ubud. I love it here.
The Balinese are mostly Hindu whereas the rest of Indonesia is mostly Muslim. I love how flower offerings are everywhere. The streets are literally strewn with flower offerings. As I mentioned in an earlier post, each family makes 30-50 little flower basket offerings a day.Businesses also put out flower offerings. These little baskets are all hand made. They are offered for things they are grateful for, respect for others and things they hope for. I think it is beautiful that people take time and effort to reflect on these things.
There are also temples everywhere. Every traditional house has its own temple which they worship and give thanks in every day. The Balinese truly are a people of gratitude.
Our taxi takes us from Ubud to Sanur in about an hour. We discuss the weather with our driver on the way to Sanur. He says that this is supposed to be the rainy season but it is much too dry. He is also very worried about global warming.
Senur Beach
Sanur is a beach town. It is also very touristy and does not have the same vibe and character as Ubud. However it has a pretty beach and is close to the airport for our next flight
We walk part of the beach which is lined with resorts, restaurants, tour sellers, water toy renters and souvenirs hawkers. We do book a tour for tomorrow for snorkeling and a tour of the island of Nusa Penida and then grab some lunch.
Bebek Cottages
Our room at Bebek Cottages is ready when we get back after lunch. I am delighted for the air conditioning and the pretty view from our bed. The afternoons are hot, hot, hot with beads of sweat rolling down both my front and back. We relax in our room or on the porch in the shade.
After resting we head out to supper. Pizza believe it or not…and it was good and had a crispy yummy crust. The place is called Pizza N Good.
Of course we end the day with massages. John said that tonight’s was his best message yet at the Peni Weni Salon.
