Tel Aviv- Day 1
Tel Aviv Museum of Art
We take it easy today and don’t head out until after 10am. We walk through the cafe and night life area of Dizengoff Street on our way to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
It takes us quite a while of walking around the building before we find the actual entrance.
We check out an exhibit based on a famous Israeli war photographer, Michael Bar-am, explaining his memories of the pictures he took. The exhibit is presented as 9 separate movie installments each 8 minutes long. I thought we were only going to stay for two installments but it is so riveting that we watch all nine.
We check out the rest of the galleries. Many are modern (which is not my thing) but I thoroughly enjoy the Renoirs, Monets, Drurer and Rembrandt. They also have a great bird display gallery.
There is a Henry Moore sculpture in front of the museum.
We head back to our apartment. Tel Aviv is a very modern, cosmopolitan city with lots of interesting architecture.
On the Beach
After a rest at the apartment, we head to the beach.
Em, Vince and John go into the water and I sit on the beach, guarding the stuff and watching the sail boarders.
Afterwards we find a bench, pull out our drinks and watch the scooters, bikes joggers walkers and roller bladers go up and down the boardwalk.
Everyone seems to have a dog here. We read that it is one of the most dog friendly cities in the world. Em said that she read that in Tel Aviv there is 1 dog for every 17 people.
Once the sun sets, we head back to the apartment.
