The Wedding in Italy
Morning at the Beach and Olive Grove

Today is our friends’ son’s wedding. So exciting.
In the morning we drive fifteen minutes to the beach which has soft fine sand. The water is warm and has a beautiful mix of blues.
On our way back to the apartment, we stop at a small building on an olive grove that offers samples and locally grown products. Of course we can’t resist.
Off to the Wedding

The remainder of the day is spent preparing for the big event. Unfortunately my one hour hair prep was messed by a warm gust of wind as soon as I leave the apartment. Oh well…
We go to Ugento’s main square to catch a taxi shuttle to the wedding location which is about thirty minutes away.
The Wedding

The venue is an Italian villa with gorgeous gardens and grounds. Click here for a very short video of the grounds. A live saxophone player performs throughout the evening. The groom is handsome and bride beautiful.
Vows are done in a picturesque gazebo followed by cocktails on the patio. Supper is held in a stunning sheltered, but open to
the garden, breezy room. You know, the type of room one envisions when imaging a large celebration in Italy.
The dinner is divine. We walk out to the poolside garden for a stunning cake cutting ceremony accompanied by pyrotechnics and the song “That’s Amore”. So cool.

The rest of the night is spent dancing by the pool.
Exhausted, we leave around 1:00am and take the shuttle back to Ugento.
Day after the Wedding Beach Party

Next morning we are very slow to get going. A wedding beach party has been arranged that starts at noon but we are 45 minutes fashionably late…not on purpose, we are just very slow moving this morning.
At the beach club a section of sunbeds & umbrellas is set aside for the wedding group. Most of last night’s guests are here. We are treated to beverages & delicious pizza.
It is a sun kissed day with friends old and new on a bright blue Mediterranean backdrop. What a perfect way to end the weekend
