Paddling the Isletas in Granada

Morning at the Spa

The key to a good holiday when you are travelling with someone, even your husband is knowing that you don’t need to do everything together.

Today I really wanted a relaxing spa day and John wanted to go hiking up a volcano…(not my idea of fun on a 30 degree day). Unfortunately after I booked my spa day, John found out that the tour only takes even numbers. Four people were booked but they wouldn’t take John as a single. He asked why and the tour company didn’t know…???… So John is doing a walking tour of Granada.

Spa Day for Kimberly

I started off by taking a one hour yoga class, followed by a 1 1/2 hour massage. By the time that I was done with my massage, John was back and we had lunch at the spa.

The spa also has a resident wizened old tortoise. Simply adorable. He would look at me and there seemed to be intelligence in his face when I spoke to him.

Walking Tour for John

John enjoyed his walking tour. It went to the places we had already visited but he got a lot more of the history and background on the tour.

Back to the Isletas

Kimberly and John paddling past an isleta
Kimberly paddle boardingWe head back to our Airbnb to rest and get out of the heat before we head out on our paddleboard tour of the Isletas. Yes, I know we were at the Isletas yesterday, but it was so beautiful and filled with wildlife that I am totally excited to explore it some more by paddleboard. Click here for yesterday’s blog post about it.

The Isletas by paddleboard is totally fabulous. Click here for a short video.  We went with Diana who is the owner of SUPtime. Diana is bubbly and knowledgeable. It was magical to be paddling amongst the lush islands filled with bird and animal life.Click here for a short video of a great egret in flight. We saw monkeys on a different island than yesterday. Click here for video. We had a meditation session on the paddleboards in a very quiet (except for birds) area.

We stayed out on the water to watch the sunset before paddling back in the twilight. Simply magical. We had our final supper in Granada at a highly recommended pizza restaurant called Mona Lisa. It did not disappoint.
